Selby Jennings is leading a search for a Data Science VP to join a global leading investment management organization with headquarters spread across the world. This position wits on the Portfolio Analytics Group and will deliver impactful insights to their investment and client teams by applying data and financial models to influence portfolio decisions.
This role will be driving innovation while managing a team of 3 associates.
Role Description:
The VP, Data Science will use their experience to apply statistical and data science methods (supervised learning, unsupervised learning, time series forecasting, neural networks, deep learning and natural language processing), along with programming skills to generate meaningful insights for portfolio decisions. We are looking for strong buy-side experience using statistical, machine learning and modern scripting techniques providing insights and building data and analytic solutions.
Management and leadership will be a key component of the role as you will be developing the careers of a team of analysts.
Qualifications:
6-10 years of experience in a highly analytical role in a technology or financial services setting
Broad and proficient knowledge of modern techniques in scripting, experience querying databases and using distributed data/computing technologies
Experience in financial modeling, analytics, and investment systems preferred
Proven experience managing a team, established success delivering to a diverse client base
Steadfast desire for understanding how processes work. Creativity in solving unconventional problems, entrepreneurial drive to learn new skills and technologies
Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research or similar field is preferred
