Role: Data Engineer

Principal Responsibilities
- Develop and Maintain Data Pipelines: Build efficient andscalable end-to-end data pipelines for integrating both internal and external data sources essential for investment decisions.
- Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for both structured and unstructured data.
- Develop and optimize data workflows to ensure quality, consistency, and reliability through rigorous quality control measures.
- Enhance Data & Technology Infrastructures: Improve and maintain existing infrastructures, including storage solutions, databases, data warehouses, and visualization platforms.
- Establish and refine organizational structures.
- Maintain and support all systems and processes, whether hosted in public or private clouds.
- Over time, collaborate closely with Portfolio Managers and the broader investment team to optimize and enhance the entire investmentanalytical process, from idea generation to execution.
- Develop and refine visualizations for analytics.
- Identify, analyze, and manipulate large and diverse data sets for idea generation and research.
- Research, evaluate, and back-test the predictive quality of large data sets to construct investment theses based on established and emerging KPIs.
- Collaborate with a Global Commodities Investment Team to support our investment analytics platform, which is crucial to our investment process.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related STEM field
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
- Solid understanding of ETL processes
- Experience with cloud services like AWS or Azure
- Experience working in a Linux environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of data structures, data modeling, software/technology architecture, dashboard creation, and data scraping
- Proven experience in building dashboards
Preferred Experience
- Strong communication skills, a solid work ethic, and attention to detail
- Demonstrated curiosity and eagerness to acquire new skills and address new challenges
- 1-6 years of experience in data engineering or a quantitative role, preferably in finance firms such as investment banks or other hedge funds
- Experience using data visualization tools such as Plotly, Dash, Excel, and Python
- Experience with web scraping, managing data pipelines, and related infrastructures
