E&S Commercial Property Underwriter

Job Description:My client, a growing captive Managing General Agent (MGA), is seeking an experienced E&S Property Underwriter to join their team in Atlanta, GA. This position will focus primarily on production and new business development within the commercial lines sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of underwriting complex property risks, building relationships with brokers, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and analyze E&S property risks for new commercial lines business, ensuring alignment with company guidelines and risk appetite.
  • Focus on generating new business, working closely with brokers, agents, and clients to drive production and grow the portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key distribution partners to expand market reach and opportunities.
  • Evaluate property exposures, including complex, high-value, and hard-to-place risks, to determine appropriate terms, conditions, and pricing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including claims, actuarial, and risk management, to support the underwriting process.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to stay ahead of industry changes and identify opportunities for new business.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of quotes, binders, policies, and endorsements.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service while ensuring adherence to underwriting standards and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in insurance, business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an E&S Property Underwriter, with a strong focus on commercial lines.
  • In-depth knowledge of property underwriting principles, including risk analysis, pricing, and coverage selection.
  • Proven experience in new business production, with a strong track record of meeting sales goals and targets.
  • Solid understanding of E&S market dynamics and broker relationships.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Property and Casualty license (or the ability to obtain) preferred.
